1. General information
The Ontology of the Present is an elective in the Degree in Philosophy. Since this subject is directly linked to the contents of the Metaphysics subject,, it can be seen as a systematic introduction to contemporary metaphysics from some of its fundamental problems.
These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations Agenda 2030 (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), in such a way that the acquisition of the learning results of the subject provides training and competence to contribute to some extent to their achievement: Goal 4:Quality education; Goal 5: Gender equality; Goal 10: Reduction of inequalities; Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities; Goal 12: Responsible Production and Consumption; Goal 13: Climate action; Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
2. Learning results
To know some of the fundamental moments that vertebrate ontology as a philosophical discourse seen from its history.
- To use with appropriateness some of the fundamental ontological notions that shape the western tradition - To know some of the main ontological problems and their interpretation in the present day
- To know some of the most important debates and authors that have taken place within ontology starting from the contemporary world
- To reflect on some of the ideological and social implications of different ontological theories.
- To analyse and interpret fundamental texts of the subject
- To understand the relationship of the subject with other philosophical disciplines.

1. Introduction
1.1. The historical-philosophical context of Being and Time
1.2. The edition (in progress) of the complete works of Martin Heidegger
2. Background and purpose of Being and Time
2.1- The role of the first lessons of Freiburg (1919-1923) and Marburg (1923-1928).
2.2- The emergence of the notion of "ontological difference" and its relevance
2.3- The meaning of the "destruction" of traditional metaphysics
3. Critique of traditional notions of existence and subjectivity
3.1- The Cartesian cogito
3.2- Transcendental subjectivity
3.3- Consciousness and intentionality
4. Dasein as "being-in-the-world"
4.1- Inventories and categories
4.2- Affectivity, comprehension, language, interpretation
4.3- Existential spatiality and temporality
5. Some philosophical effects of Being and Time
5.1- Phenomenology and Hermeneutics
5.2- The role of Being and time in the phenomenological-hermeneutic version of the "linguistic turn"
5.3- Existential analytics and its relation to the sciences
4. Academic activities
The methodology will be active and personalized. The theoretical classes will be dedicated to the reading of Being and Time. The tutoring sessions will also serve to guide the classes
In accordance with the above, the general methodological lines will be specified as follows:
- Presentation of the subject by the teacher.
- Active participation of the students in the classes, which will have a seminar character.
- Reading, research and personal work by students.
5. Assessment system
Both for the first and second calls:
Global assessment test (to be taken on the date set in the academic calendar)

- Knowledge of the basic concepts of the subject (0 to 5)
- Argumentative capacity, conceptual precision and order of exposition (0 to 3)
- Adequacy and relevance of the bibliographical references used for the exercise (0 to 2).
